Opening Night: Tigard, Sherwood, Wilsonville & West Salem Advance

Three Portland-area schools win their opening round games, but West Salem might be the most impressive team on Opening Night 2019

SALEM, OR - While three Portland-area teams advanced to the Capitol City Classic, the West Salem Titans may have made the most noice.

Tigard (4-0) is looking more and more the part of a return team to the Class 6A state tournament. The Tigers defeated Parkrose soundly, 77-52, behind the balanced scoring of Drew Carter 20, Brett Moss 17, and Steven Long 16. The Broncos were led by senior Isaiah Enyninwa 17, and junior Damontae Burns who scored 16.

The Bowmen of Sherwood under Coach Rahim Tufts, reigning Pacific Conference champions, jumped out to a big lead against a very good Silverton team, then held on to win 63-49. Sherwood bombed 3's much of the night, and was led by dynamic point guard Jamison Guerra (16 points), Caden Davis (15), and Asher Krauel (12). Senior Grant Dunn led the Foxes with 17 points.
