
SALEM, OR (December 22, 2016) - The 2nd Annual Capitol City Classic presented by Adidas Basketball continued play with round 2 at Willamette University in Salem on Wednesday, December 21.
In the championship semi-finals, Mater Dei (CA) used a feisty 2-3 zone and 23 points from freshman guard Beon Riley to overcome a considerable size disadvantage and upend the Skyhawks of Southridge, 47-43. Southridge was led sophomore wing Brock Henry, who scored 19 points in the loss.
In the night's finale, West Salem edged Wilsonville 63-62. The Titans Kyle Greeley calmly made two free throws with :11 to go in the game after a questionable call on what appeared to be a clean and spectacular blocked shot by the Wildcats' Harrison Steiger. Wilsonville's final two roughly contested shots did not receive the same benefit of a call, and the hometown Titans moved on to the championship game while the Wildcats 21-game
