2nd Annual Capitol City Classic presented by Adidas Basketball set to Tip-Off December 21-22-23 at W

SALEM, OR (December 20, 2016) - The 2nd Annual Capitol City Classic presented by Adidas Basketball will tip-off at Willamette University in Salem on Wednesday, December 21. The CCC will feature 16 boys' high school teams, including 11 from Oregon and five from out-of-state. The teams will be split into two separate divisions of eight teams: the Capitol Auto Group Division (big schools) and the Oregon Air National Guard Division (small schools).

Mater Dei (Chula Vista, CA) headlines the out-of-state teams. The Crusaders feature three excellent perimeter players in junior Tre Anderson (6'5, 16.8 ppg), senior Clifford Kidd (6'1, 12.0 ppg) and freshman Beon Riley (6'3, 12.2 ppg).

Evergreen (WA) also will be competing in the Capitol Auto Group Division, and the Plainsmen look to battle a strong field that includes three Salem-area programs on the rise in McNary, Sprague and West Salem, as well as fellow Oregon programs Southridge, Thurston, and Wilsonville. Sprague features 6'7 junior post Teagan Quitoriano while West Salem is led by 6'4 Kyle Greeley, both all-state level performers being recruited by NCAA Division I schools. Southridge features a roster with three 6'8 or taller players, and defending 5A state champion Wilsonville is led by Oregon State signee and the #1 prospect in Oregon as ranked by ESPN, 6'5 senior wing Zach Reichle.

In the Oregon Air National Guard Division, Lakeside (WA), Seton Catholic (WA) and Yakama Nation (WA) will join five Oregon teams: Estacada, Jefferson, Klamath Union, Stayton, & Taft.

"We are excited about our second edition of what we think will be an entertaining high school basketball event showcasing some great talent," said Chris Roche, founder and tournament director of the Capitol City Classic. "If you like Oregon high school basketball, we think this will be a really fun event. Last year was fantastic, and we see great things ahead, too."

In addition to the high school tournament, the CCC Youth Tourney presented by Cascade Sports Camps will feature an opportunity for boys and girls in grades 4 through 8 to participate in a competitive youth tournament in Salem. The CCC Youth Tourney, originally schedule for this past weekend on December 17-18, was pushed back to January 21-22 due to inclement weather and school closures. Interested teams can sign up at www.ccc-youth-tourney.com.

A free basketball clinic for boys and girls ages 7-14 presented jointly by Cascade Sports Camps, Pro Classic Hoop Camp and Willamette University men's basketball coach Kip Ioane, and the Capitol City Classic will be held at Willamette on Thursday, December 22nd from 9am-1pm. To register, interested families should go to www.capitolcityclassic.com.

The Hampton Inn & Suites of Salem Hot Shot Contest, Adidas Basketball 3-Point Contest and the Slam Dunk Contest all should add to the fun on the tournament's final day, December 23rd. Those contests featuring CCC players will take place beginning at 2:45 prior to the evenings 3rd place and Championship games for both divisions.
